NORTHERN LIGHTS: Oslo electronic duo, Thelma and Clyde, will be releasing their latest record, “White Line”, next month in Norway through Karmakosmetix Records. (Next year, for everywhere else.) Until then, listen to a single, “In Between”, which will be featured on the new album. It’s a dreamy trip-hop styled cut, with deep dub and lead singer Hanne Kolstø’s lyrically dark overtones: “I got a time, I told you so / You’re in between / The sea, the lie and the white line / You won’t find me on your own / Not even near / See the darkness in you / All the scars can let it flow / We’re wastin’ blood / We’re wastin’ blood.” Kolstø sings a low reverb baritone, often breathy and sexy, like on their track, “Reright”, which can be heard at the band’s MySpace page. The songs I’ve heard by Thelma and Clyde are a mix of trip-hop, dance, lounge and there’s even some rap on “Crosscheck (feat. Salvador Sanchez)”. This is a band to watch. Producer Trygve Tambs-Lyche is the other half of the pair, and the man behind the beautiful programming and synthesizer work. Note: All lyrics are unofficial. You can listen to a download a few tracks here and here. — David D. Robbins Jr.
