The duo Pressed And (aka Andrew Hamlet and Mat Jones) are releasing a new 5-song EP, “Hyper Thistle” on July 24th via Mush Records. The band press release is calling the new EP “a bridge between their sound-defining debut, “Imbue Up”, and the more performance driven sound of their recent Daytrotter Session which is infusing the music they are working on for their first full-length.” What that means is the sound of “Hyper Thistle” is something you could actually see someone playing at a live show. It’s highly textured, blending layers of glitches with guitar-delay ambiance, and drum-and-bass beats that bounce, stutter, pause and shoot off again. Vocals are toyed with, distorted, their pitch altered to fit the moods. The record begins with the frenetic opener “Tusk in the Rock Flowers”, and works it’s way slowly into more grooves and melodies as it moves on. It’s a pretty, futuristic and playful journey into the electronic world of Pressed And. The band posted one track “Komuso Flutter Kick IV” for stream and free download at the label’s soundcloud page.
