Summer of Haze f. H▲zy | Pussy Juice

Hey, I don’t name the tracks, I just write about them and post the ones I think are worth listening to, hopefully matching fans with good musicians. Well, wild song title aside, Summer of Haze’s “Pussy Juice” is a wicked track. And now it has an equally stunning video to go with it thanks to Their Bated Breath friend, the wonderful videographer David Dean Burkhart. He’s created a video that resembles in some ways the way a kid, back in the day, might try to get his television to come in clearer in order to watch an adult channel. He takes sexual images of a woman licking her own fingers, pulsating naked bodies and transposes television color bars behind and over it. The images oscillate in terms of their visual clarity, giving it the feel of a program illegally viewed back in perhaps the 80s. It’s quite inventive, and just another way in which Burkhart is advancing a craft he’s already quite good at. Summer of Haze reminds me a lot of Purity Ring, only darker and obviously more sexually bent. You can listen to more Summer of Haze music at soundcloud and bandcamp, where you’ll find songs with titles like, “Pussy Pussy Mone Money Weed Weed Weed Weed”, “I Know You Wanna Fuck Me ∞ Why Can’t You Love?” Don’t be fooled by the outrageousness of some of the titles, the music is very good. ” Pussy Juice” is a masterful arrangement of chopped-up computerized blips, transporting warped synth, liquid-lounge bass beats, stuttered percussion, and digitalized vocal pitch distortions that give the song a sexy underpinning. Songs like “Wake Up Wake Up Wake”, are stunning, mixing rap and electronics. Summer of Haze is at its best when it’s at its strangest, like the beautiful, “I Drink Something Cool, And The Airplane Is Flying” and the hilariously-titled “Their Love Is Fucking Mainstream, My Love is ∞  — staying away from that sound that always reminds me of club parties at Ibiza.  – David D. Robbins Jr.
