NEON CLOUD | Knit

Hello Tokyo. Neon Cloud’s new EP “Knit” will be released for free via bandcamp on November 1st, but until then you can stream it. The four songs on the record are represented with symbols, the first song, the sinister “△” (below), is wickedly good. One of the the most original tracks I’ve heard all year. It’s got that doomed march/”Army of Me” thing going for it, but it’s the beat and arrangement that’s so spectacular. There’s a lush and ghostly female vocal track, interspersed with warped electronics, tribal percussion, ping-ponging synth, a sampling of a girl inhaling — all elegantly overlapping. It’s part dub-step menace, part ethereal hypnotics. Listen to the other tracks, “□”, “○” and “△ (Sun Glitters Remix)” here. Album will be released via the Tokyo label, flau. — David D. Robbins Jr.
