DEATH IN THE AFTERNOON | John Who

Death In the Afternoon
have posted a new track, “John Who”, on its soundcloud page. It’s a pretty throwback with swirling keyboard melodies and narcotized vocals. The song is dark and romantic. Listen below. The band play a kind of dream pop, with undercurrents of electro and new wave. The band says this song is just a prelim for their upcoming EP release, which will be available soon on Spotify and ITunes. If the name of the band sounds familiar to you, it should — it’s also the name of a 1932 book about the glory of bullfighting written by Ernest Hemingway. My guess is the band name stands for something more grand than the book itself, perhaps it’s the strange quality of beauty that seems to glow in the darkness. Follow the band at facebook and twitter. — David D. Robbins Jr
