ELFIN SADDLE | Devastates

This is sweet news. Elfin Saddle announces the March 6th release of a new full-length album, “Devastates”, out via Constellation Records. This is the band’s follow up to their 23-minute DVD called “Wurld”, which saw founders Emi Honda and Jordan McKenzie create a miniature world history in their backyard, about the rise and fall of civilization, set to their own soundtrack and stop-motion photography. Now the group have released one single, “The Changing Wind (edit)” from off their upcoming release. The song opens with ambling acoustic guitar, a subtle line of guitar feedback, and haunting vocal cooing that builds into powerful drums, and the squealing of an electrified musical saw. It’s chaotic, super-charged, baroque, and beautifully textured. The tracklist to “Devastates” is as follows: 1. The Changing Wind, 2. Kiboho, 3. Boats, 4. The Power & The Wake, 5. Chaos Hands, 6. Invocation, 7. In A Blanket of Leaves, 8. The Wind Come Carry. Their track, “Running Sheep”, was named as one of the best songs of the year by Their Bated Breath back in 2010. — David D. Robbins Jr.
