YELLOW OSTRICH | Marathon Runner

Yellow Ostrich posted a single, “Marathon Runner”, off his upcoming release, “strange land”, out March 6th via Barsuk. The song begins familiarly for fans of Alex Schaaf, who know just how good he’s become at using recorded vocal samples, loops, and playing with harmonics. But a few seconds into the track, it takes a decidedly different course from some of the more eclectic songs on “The Mistress”. Yellow Ostrich turns up the volume, rips into some searing electric guitar, and decides to rock out like Cymbals East Guitars. It sounds great. It’s about running away as fast as you can: “I am a marathon runner / And my legs are sore / And I’m anxious to see / What I’m running for / I am a hot-air balloon / On a sailboat / I would make this my home / If I’d learned to float.” You can grab the song for the cost of an e-mail at Yellow Ostrich’s official website. Follow him at facebook, bandcamp, and twitter. — David D. Robbins Jr.
