Noosa is the newest project of New York artists Sky Barbarick and Matt Buszko. And they’ve released a new single, “Fear of Love”, the title track to an upcoming EP. It’s also a pretty dance track with a sweet groove and spacey synth-pop melodies. It’s right in the wheelhouse of fans of Everything But the Girl, circa the good stuff like “Walking Wounded”. The track circles around lyrics about desire: “I’ll wait for you as long as it takes for you to see / It seems the devil’s got a piece of your heart, and you can’t see that you’re beautiful.” The difference between standard dance tracks and the really good ones is the right combination of catchy altering grooves and something compelling enough to sing about. Luckily, you’ve got both here — something for the weekend club crowd and that solitary listener wanting to chill out after a long night. Call me a big graphics geek, but the single cover is beautiful, as is the font work. Note: Lyrics are all unofficial. Show Noosa some love at facebook or listen to some of Barbarick’s more folk-based work at her soundcloud page. You’ll find an elegant track “Path of Life” there. — David D. Robbins Jr.
