Twin Shadow | Five Seconds

I opened my e-mail today and listened to a handful of songs with a serious 70s new wave/80s pop bent. One of those tracks is Twin Shadow’s (aka George Lewis Jr.) “Five Seconds”, a powerful new track off his just-announced upcoming sophomore album. It’s the follow up to 2010’s “Forget with Confess”, and will be released on 4AD July 10 in the U.S. and July 9 in the UK. In a press release, Lewis Jr. says the new album was inspired by motorcycle rides he took in Los Angeles after two years of puting the bike away following an accident: “One winter I crashed my motorcycle, with a friend on the back. I shouldn’t have been riding that day, but I was young and fearless of the black roads, fast and easy in my ways. As the bike slipped from under us my head filled with words.” You can download the song below, courtesy a link from the artist. — David D. Robbins Jr.
