Micachu and the Shapes posted 12 new videos, one for each track on the new record, “Never”. It’s already one of my favorite listens. I can’t wait to get my hands on Mica Levi’s new creations. I’ve come to love her ingenuity, her creative use of bizarre instrumentation, her guts, her wonderful sense for the odd arrangement, her humor, and her near math-rock obsession for that sort of beauty found in the repetition of ugly sounds. In a sense, she knows what every good musician knows — that any sound repeated can form great rhythm. Now you get a chance to stream the new record accompanied by videos. Conceptually, it’s a pretty cool idea. All the videos are fairly low budget, but interesting to watch, as the band traipses about in front of artwork added probably by green-screen method. I had a feeling Micachu might do this, considering all the white-noise filled video screens they had up on one of the pages of their official website. Follow Micachu and the Shapes at facebook. Click here to go to the band’s YouTube page to see all the videos. But to get a quick idea of what to expect, watch the video for one of the best new tracks, “Easy”, below. — David D. Robbins Jr.
