Cade | Homesick and Fruit Fly (Video)

Thanks again to Mitch Fillion at Southern Souls for capturing this beautiful performance by a band named Cade, the same name as their lead singer. I was floored right away when I first heard the opening few lines of “Homesick”, which reminded me of a style somewhere between Ane Brun, Miss Emily Brown and Alessi’s Ark — which is fine company. There’s an organic feel to the way the melodies gently swirl around the singer’s voice. The sound is partly out of a folk tradition, but fleshed out richly with backing instrumentation. Listen for yourself below. What a stunning couple of tracks. Can’t wait to hear more from this band. Be sure to visit Mitch’s site, because he does some wonderfully under-appreciated work there. Can’t say I know much about the band, but they are made up of singer Cade, Wes Allen on drums, Julian Clarke on guitar and Josh Bois, also on guitar. You can visit the band’s bandcamp page here. — David D. Robbins Jr.
