Peaking Lights | “Dreambeat” (Video)

August 20, 2012 at 11:02 am 5 comments

Here’s a new video for the hypnotic “Dreambeat” from Peaking Lights’ third record, “Lucifer”, out via Mexican Summer. The video was directed by Jordan Redaelli and Jason Miller. The label website calls the video a “raw NYC summer street vibe” set as a “vogue/ballroom homage.” — David D. Robbins Jr.

David, I note that the source of the video is a posting by Urban Outfitters on Vimeo…can you explain to me what is the relationship between Urban Outfitters and Peaking Lights?!?!?!

Ha! Honestly, I don’t know exactly. However, I’ve seen this with other musicians’ videos too: Frankie Rose, Spank Rock, Cloud Nothing, etc. My guess is that they’re featuring perhaps on those in-store compilations that are officially “Urban Outfitters” collections — and perhaps they pay the bands for the use of the songs. Also, Urban Outfitters does have a “video series” too — and does a lot with music. It’s as if they’re incorporating music and music sales into their own sales. Interesting question.

A little investigation reveals that the video is “produced” by Urban Outfitters. Friend of mine mentioned to me that Urban Outfitters is now selling select vinyl. For about $8 per LP over the same titles at the record store on the next block! Cool video, though, engrossing and haunting.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I was wondering a bit about that too — since I was seeing more “Urban Outfitters” videos.
