Laetitia Sadier | Find Me the Pulse of the Universe

This gives me that same good feeling I felt when I first saw Laetitia Sadier live in Iowa City as part of Stereolab. I can’t completely explain it, but that moment at the 2:12-2:26 mark is so indelibly Stereolab, with the way everything seems to congeal into one pretty forward motion. Sadier has always had a unique way of blending styles and grooves into smooth waves of new sound. And despite the hints of Stereolab, this track is a hybrid altogether her own. Just listen to “Find Me the Pulse of the Universe” and you’ll hear electric guitar strumming, gorgeous harmonizing, Afro-Cuban percussion, a sort of European artistic fluidity, meeting a combination of languages, rhythms, and vocal melodies. In short, this is fantastic track and introduction to her newest release, “Silencio”, out via Drag City. Video directed by Daniel Hart. — David D. Robbins Jr.
