I stumbled onto the BRNS track “Mexico” from off their 2012 release “Wounded“, and at first I thought I was listening to some WU LYF track I had yet to hear. Well, of course, it’s not WU LYF, but listen and you can see why I may have thought so. There’s that steady but building tribal rhythm, the hypnosis of it all, the communal feel of the lyrics like a kind of group chanting. From what I can understand, the chorus leads into the repeated phrase, “I’ve never been in Mexico!” — which is also whispered at the end of the track. Whatever the case may be, this Brussels band have a sweet song in “Mexico”. Be sure to listen to the entire record, “Wounded”, at bandcamp — and follow the band at facebook. — David D. Robbins Jr.
