A Their Bated Breath favorite, Guerre, is back with another low-fi, moody gem called “Rashad (Loose Pace)”. It’s full of vocal feints. Teasing, laid back clips of honey-dipped high falsetto, dished out in utterances, seasoning the sparse electronics of the song. Soft beats and intermittent keyboard are sprinkled amid the sexy, melodic crooning. I think this is an advancement of the Guerre style. The Sydney-based musician has already proven he can lay down smooth tracks based on grooves, but this one is more eclectic, adds a stutter-stop to the rhythm and flow, only to bring it back again. It’s tantalizing. You can follow Guerre at facebook and bandcamp. Read more archived posts about Yes Please artist Guerre here. — David D. Robbins Jr.
