Foxes In Fiction/Benoît Pioulard | Ground Glass

I’ve been waiting for this track to hit my inbox. It’s a new single, “Ground Glass”, from Their Bated Breath friend Foxes in Fiction (aka Warren Hildebrand) and Benoît Pioulard (aka Thomas Meluch). “Ground Glass” is part of a two-song 7-inch release out via Wool Recordings. The two artists became friends as Benoît Pioulard played a tour date in Hildebrand’s hometown of Toronto. They decided to get back together at some point and record a collaboration. “Ground Glass” is a moody soundscape that begins with a spoken word sample about identity: “I couldn’t see myself in the mirror … and then I thought I saw someone else.” The rest of the song is around six minutes of pretty, slow guitar distortion, faint and echoed vocals, and beautiful, introspective musical shifts that work like pulsations, tones expanding outward. Listen to the track below. You can stream songs by Foxes In Fiction at bandcamp. Follow Benoît Pioulard at the official website. — David D. Robbins Jr.
