x.y.r. | Calm In Trees

“Calm In Trees” is a beautiful new track from x.y.r., the solo project of Vladimir Karpov, who breaths life into electronic effects, analog synthesizer, looped sounds, and field recordings. “Calm In Trees” begins with a low buzz, the chirping of birds, a whisper of synth melodies that grow in oscillating warmth and glowing tones. It’s tranquil music, but it’s not sleepy escapism. Rather it seems to inspire the opposite, a closer reflection on sound and the self. Listen below. The song appears to have been created for one of the artist’s favorite blogs, Microphones in the Trees, which has included it in a downloadable mix. “Calm In Trees” follows the 2012 release of x.y.r. LP “Robinson Crusoe”. Note: Photo above taken by Carles Rodrigo. — David D. Robbins Jr.
