Ohio musician Jason Molina, best known for performing under the name Songs: Ohia and with a band, Magnolia Electric Co. died tragically last month at the young age of 39. In order to commemorate the talent of a friend, Graveface Records and William Schaff are selling prints of the artwork above, which comes with a compact disc of covers of Molina songs called “Weary Engine Blues: A Tribute to Jason Molina”. The label confirmed a stellar list of contributors so far, with possibly more to come: John Vanderslice, Mark Kozelek, Hospital Ships, Lucas Oswald, Jonathan Meiburg, Damien Jurado, Dreamend, Brown Bird, Haunt the House, TW Walsh, Phil Elverum, Alisdair Roberts, Scout Niblett, Jeffrey Lewis, Will Johnson, The Wave Pictures, Allo Darlin, Darren Hayman, and Herman Dune. Another one of those contributing performers is Will Oldham, who you can hear below singing a version of “Gypsy He-Witch”, a song he and Molina created during their time together in 2002 under the project name Amalgamated Songs of Rest. — David D.
