Wintercoats | Heartful EP

It’s been a few years since I last posted about the serene style of Melbourne’s Wintercoats (aka James Wallace) — back when he released a couple of singles, including a song he did with Sea Oleena. He has a brand new EP out now, entitled “Heartful”, and it’s available via bandcamp for whatever price you wish to pay. “Heartful” is Wintercoats’ dreamy painting, drifting through imagery and whispery lead vocals. It’s elegant and wistful. It’s difficult to image anyone writing songs that feel more delicate or fragile than Wintercoats. My favorite track on the record, is the gossamer, “Halogen Moon”. It’s a stunning example of how restraint can be as passionate, loud, and moving as any noise-rock. You can follow Wintercoats at facebook and tumblr. — David D. Robbins Jr.
