Widowspeak | True Believer

This pretty, drowsy number from Brooklyn’s Widowspeak is called “True Believer”, a new single from off the duo’s upcoming October 29th release, “The Swamps” EP, out via Captured Tracks. The new song finds Molly Hamilton’s softly whispered vocals caressed by a countrified guitar drone and a gently swaying rhythm. I may have written about this before, but when Widowspeak go all quiet like this, the style reminds me of a long-lost song from a record like the Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions’ hypnotic “Bavarian Fruit Bread” (2005). “True Believer” is the kind of song to get lost in with its somber heart and warmed-up intoxication.
