Crystal Stilts | Star Crawl

The Crystal Stilts will be releasing their third LP, “Nature Noir”, available September 17th on Sacred Bones. To tide you over until then, the band are sharing a stream of a new single, “Star Crawl”. It’s a fitting song title for a song that seems to saunter with a slacker’s cool glide. At first listen, the song seems pretty simple, and largely that’s because it is. There are no phony gestures or gimmickry, just a good old psych-garage sound and lead singer Brad Hargett’s gorgeously drawn-out vocals, sung like a man on a dazed-out benzo bender. The verses are sung with a delay that works well with the lyrics (“I’m too tired baby …), along with a slick-sounding echo guitar effect played by JB Townsend. I imagine this is yet another track that will find its way onto the Their Bated Breath year-end list for best songs of 2013. You can follow the band at facebook. The band also consists of Andy Adler on bass, Keegan Cooke on drums, and Kyle Forester on keyboard. — David D. Robbins Jr.
