Officially, Daughter only has one album under its belt. But it feels like I’ve been writing about Elena Tonra and crew for years now. (Okay, I guess I have.) At first, it began with streaming singles on bandcamp and the periodic appearances of EPs. A blink later and the band is signed to 4AD, they have an LP, their songs are playing on popular television programs, and the band highlighted The Late Show With David Letterman with a performance of “Youth” late in 2012. The band and its singer have been kind to this blog, writing thanks for some of my initial posts about the music, giving tour updates, and announcing new tracks. That’s where we’re at now. Following the success of “If You Leave” (2013), Daughter has released a limited-edition 7-inch called “Youth”, featuring the previously unreleased “Smoke”. You can find more info on how to buy the 7-inch at the YouTube video link below. Click here to read archived TBB posts about the band. — David D. Robbins Jr.
