Last Japan and my.head | Valkyria Loop

I’m enjoying this two-minute build-up of textured sonic-scaping from Last Japan and my.head. Last Japan, a London producer and stellar DJ, is part of the RCA/Sony label, Space and Time — and this is his first new track of the year. “Valkyria Loop” begins with the slow hum of a synth note, a light clutter, an evolving percussive beat, and a vocal sample turned into a kind of hypnotic chant. Not sure if this is a hint of things to come in 2014, or just an experiment. Whatever the case may be, it’s pretty — teasing with its abruptness. — David D. Robbins Jr.
