Hideous Towns | Joy

Melbourne four-piece band Hideous Towns have a new single, “Joy”, along with a video for the track. It’s a light, jangly guitar tune with a new wave bent. The band plan to launch the official release of the song April 3rd at Bar Open in Fitzroy with Luna Ghost, and The Primary. I’m not sure if the band name is a tip of the cap to the well-known track off The Sunday’s 1990 record, “Reading, Writing and Arithmetic” — but there is a kinship to the style of that song and “Joy” — from the guitar to the pretty, light twee vocals of Harriet Wheeler. I’ve only heard the one track, but look forward to hearing more. Hideous Towns is Chris, Ryan, Ashley and Alana. You can follow the band at facebook— David D. Robbins Jr.
