“You can’t separate what you need and what you want / Bad love isn’t better than none …” are the cautionary opening verses to Caitlyn Scarlett’s single, “Bad Love”, which has a new video featuring the singer as an omnipresent but invisible observer of a relationship going awry. Scarlett had been a backing singer for rapper Little Simz, but has broken out on her own, showcasing her pretty, powerfully soulful vocals that would fit right in there with George Maple and BANKS. “Bad Love” is a great track, sung with a lot confidence, punctuated by a surging arrangement of strings, bass beat, elegant jazz bass, well-written lyrics, and stylish R&B vocals.
