Whoa. That’s all I have for Darling’s latest imaginative track, featuring the vocals of lovely Their Bated Breath favorite, Bijou. In the middle of April, Toronto’s Darling left a nice introductory message on facebook that simply stated: “hello I am Darling and I will give you music soon.” Well, we’re two songs into that announcement. The first track, “Moth On the Wall”, was up and streaming last month. It’s a great track, with whispered male vocals, cool keyboard, grinding and repeating guitar lines, all building into a great guitar riff at the 3:15 mark. Lovely stuff. But if you thought that was something, wait until you hear the latest Darling track (which is even better). Nasty. That’s what “Devil Rhythmn” is. It’s got a twisted, gnarled feel, gutter-born, sensual, caustic and thumping. Think Tricky. Darling makes great use of Bijou’s vocal talents and thankfully brings her volume to the forefront.
