King Tuff’s new record is called “Black Moon Spell”. Sub-Pop posted the YouTube link below, with the caveat that it’s not the official video. Well, I’m not sure if that’s the label and artist having a goof, but let it be said, this is the description provided at the label’s website for the upcoming record (which also sports a special “Loser’s Edition” on vinyl): “No one involved was prepared to make a record, but an invisible hand pushed them to do it. Perhaps it was God or that special someone we all know and love called The Devil.” The lyrics of the latest single, the hooky “Headbanger”, are a hoot — and gave me a flashback to The Mountain Goats singing the comically-named “The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton”, from 2002’s “All Hail West Texas”. The 14-song LP “Black Moon Spell” is out Sept. 23. — David D. Robbins Jr.
