Lyon & Lowe | Nothing Like Me

Been enjoying this new track called “Nothing Like Me” from duo Lyon and Lowe out via Love Our Records. It begins with a heavy digital thump, like it’s going to be a typical house track, but it isn’t. The opening vocals are odd, frightened, scratchy and intoned more than they are sung: “I got my heart beat up / like a schoolyard punk / Never went for love / Thought I was too clever / But I’m still no better.” The song really takes off after the vocalist goes into falsetto and the computerized bleeps and digi-dots begin pinging everywhere and little touches like fuzzed-out synth and a filter fade are added. — David D.
