ON THE DANCE FLOOR: I’ve seen Little Dragon live a couple of times, and it’s safe to say their lovely centerpiece, Yukimi Nagano, is the driving force behind the Swedish band’s electro-twee energy. It’s also obvious the band has deliberately moved its style into a more psychedelic dance-groove, aimed at getting you to move your feet. So, it’s not surprising to see the group come out with some remixes. The band followed up 2009’s LP “Machine Dreams” with a five-song EP, “Blinking Pigs”. It features “Machine Dreams” songs, “Blinking Pigs” (in its original format), and four remixes. “Runabout” finds Nagano singing sweetly about love, over the top of a club beat, xylophone-like synth and a cool Eastern-sounding backing-vocal track. The jazz-based “Fortune” is given a full-band approach, with strings, drums, horns, and cascading keyboards. The “Feather” remix is a spacey throw-back, with a sexy chill flavor, showcasing Nagano’s beautifully airy vocals. The EP is available via iTunes. — David D. Robbins Jr.
