FOREST | Soon Be Over

Okay, it’s time for you to add some vinyl this month, and it might as well be the new album from the pretty, and haunting Forest. The band will release a self-titled, limited picture album available on Feb. 9. You can even listen to all eight songs, which the band describe as “someone, or something, making sounds of loneliness on the dew-covered harps of a spider web.” A strange as it sounds, that’s pretty apt description. The music is lonely, isolated, with an upbeat undertow like a trickling stream. A must-listen to for this year. Below is one song not listed as being on the album, “Soon Be Over”. It’s has a drifting beauty to it, with celestial high falsetto, ambling synths, program drums, all rising to a harmonica finale: “Time to realize, what you’ve become / Ohhhhh.” Note: Album can be purchased digitally at this link. — David D.
